The Castillo Miranda was built in 1866, but the designer had died before the castle could be completed. This resulted in a very confusing next step for construction workers, as no one knew the next stage! Construction stopped and the project was finally abandoned.
Apart from being used briefly by the Nazis in World War II, the site has been forgotten. There are no plans to revive the castle for modern use – all proposals have been catalogued as too expensive.
