These places were abandoned years ago. Look at them today

Miranda Castle – Belgium

The Castillo Miranda was built in 1866, but the designer had died before the castle could be completed. This resulted in a very confusing next step for construction workers, as no one knew the next stage! Construction stopped and the project was finally abandoned.

Apart from being used briefly by the Nazis in World War II, the site has been forgotten. There are no plans to revive the castle for modern use – all proposals have been catalogued as too expensive.

Hashima Island – Japan

This Japanese island has many nicknames, including Battleship Island and Ghost Island. In the 19th century, the island was populated by people due to its access to underwater coal mines.

Over time, the country shifted from coal to oil, causing the mines to close. Eventually, the island’s population abandoned the island and left it almost deserted.
