Kayokoy – Turkey
This small town in Turkey is located between the Tauras Mountains. According to some sources, its entire population moved to Greece as a political change. The village today is deserted, leaving 350 buildings completely empty and abandoned.
Mould and ivy have made it their home now, without humans spending time there. It is not certain whether Turkey has plans to restore Kayokoy to a new village or to keep it as it is. What do you think they should do with that?
Floating Island – Australia
The ship, the SS Ayrfield, was built in 1911 in the United Kingdom. It was registered as an Australian steam collector, but became a Navy transport ship in World War II for American soldiers. It operated until 1972, when it retired in Sydney along Homebush Bay.
The bay is especially known as a “ship cemetery” and the SS Ayrfield has a new life as host to a mangrove tree and lush vegetation. Visitors can see it from a distance.
